Mallorca - the island of diversity

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and is located around 170 kilometres east of the Spanish mainland in the western Mediterranean. The capital of the island is Palma de Mallorca.

The landscape varies from mountain ranges in the north-west to flat plains inland and beautiful beaches. Therefore, Mallorca offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, water sports, golf and sailing. The mountainous landscape and picturesque coastline make the island a paradise for nature and sports lovers.

Mallorca is a favourite destination for tourists from all over the world.                                       The island offers a variety of attractions, including beautiful beaches, historic towns, picturesque villages, impressive landscapes and a vibrant nightlife. The tourism sector is an integral part of the island's economy.

Popular beaches include Playa de Palma, Cala Millor, Cala d'Or, and many more. The beaches with mostly crystal- clear water vary from rocky coves to long sandy beaches.

The island has a rich history that has been influenced by various cultures, including the Romans, Moors and Catalans. Historic sites such as La Seu Cathedral in Palma, Bellver Castle and the ancient ruins of Pollentia bear witness to the island´s diverse history.

Mallorcan cuisine is characterised by Mediterranean influences. Popular dishes include paella, sobrassada (a local sausage), ensaimada (a sweet pastry) and, of course, fresh seafood. The island also has a lively restaurant scene with a wide range of international cuisine.
